 Breast Cancer Support Services

An independent, nonprofit organization that transitioned from a 19 year affiliation with another National Breast Cancer Organization in 2011, Breast Cancer Support Services is dedicated to providing nurturing support AFTER a breast cancer diagnosis. Offering peer support groups, therapy groups, emergency financial assistance and informational/educational programs, Breast Cancer Support Services helps breast cancer patients in 19 counties surrounding Chattanooga Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Our current board of directors includes our founding member, & 26 year survivor, Elaine Hill, along with a hospital executive, 2 physicians & community leaders; 4 of whom are also survivors themselves.

Erlanger Centers for Breast Health

The Erlanger Health System is a multi-hospital system with five campuses based in Chattanooga. Erlanger is the 9th largest public hospital in the United States and more than a quarter of a million people are treated by the health system annually. The Erlanger Centers for Breast Health are part of the Erlanger Health System which provides services to Hamilton County as well as 17 surrounding counties. Available services include: 4 mammography sites with digital screening units, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Clinical Research, Board Certified Genetics Counselors (2), Breast Resource Center staffed with 2 Certified Breast Patient Navigators, a Social Worker and a dietitian.

 Memorial Health Care System Foundation, Inc.

 Mary Ellen Locher Breast Center

CHI Memorial, a private non-profit hospital system includes Memorial Hospital, a 336-bed regional center with centers of excellence in cancer, cardiac, and orthopedics, and Memorial Hixson, a 69-bed Community Hospital. Established in 1952 to alleviate a shortage of hospital beds in the community, Memorial continues to honor its covenant to provide the highest quality standards of compassionate health care, and has gained national recognition as a leading health care system. Memorial’s first mobile mammography health coach, established in 2005, was so successful that it resulted in an increased request for services causing a 6 month wait list. A second Mobile Health Coach was added in 2011 to meet the ever increasing demand.

North Georgia HealthCare Center

 The North Georgia HealthCare Center is a community-based non-profit health care center located in the center of Catoosa County in Ringgold, GA. Funded through the USDA Direct Loan program, NGHCC opened 6 years ago with a mission to provide quality care for the underserved residents in rural Northwest Georgia. We provide services for over 2450 patients for a total of 7,000 plus visits last year, 52% of whom are uninsured or receive Medicaid. A lack of transportation and finances are the two main barriers that prevent our local residents from receiving the care they need. In one location we offer Primary Care, Physical Therapy, Aquatic Therapy, Pharmacy Education and Prevention programs, and lab services.

Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership

The Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership is a not-for-profit organization that services both Murray and Whitfield Counties. The Partnership was organized in 1992 to create fundamental changes in the delivery of health services in Murray and Whitfield Counties. Based upon collaborative effort between providers of healthcare, business, industry, local government, educators and public health, the project has benefited from a strong commitment by the community to improve the overall health status, while controlling cost, improving accessibility and promoting high quality care. Our 30 board members meet monthly in order to stay up to date on each other as well as the Partnership’s upcoming events.

Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program

 Local health departments have provided services to county residents for over 80 years. The Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program (TBCSP) was added in 2002, when the program received CDC funding and was recognized as an entry point for breast cancer treatment services through TennCare(Tennessee’s Medicaid program). Eligibility, enrollment, and clinical breast exams are provided at local health departments. Women are referred to area partners for mammograms and tests. All costs are covered for services rendered. TBCSP provides services to uninsured eligible women in TN at local health departments and community health centers.
